Erica Rucci, BSN, RN

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN),
Graduate Student USC Upstate,

Mary Black College of Nursing

Welcome to my graduate student nurse educator portfolio.  As you review my portfolio you will gain an understanding of my background, professional history, and goals as well as my commitment to community service. As you review my portfolio you will see that my teaching philosophy aligns with the National League for Nursing (NLN) Nurse Educator Competencies. Nurse educators who understand the educational process, and embrace it as a scholarly endeavor, will be the profession’s leaders in building a science of nursing education (Halstead, 2007, p.13).

Professional Expertise

School nursing is both an art and science. The art of school nursing combines caring, ethics and relationship building, while the science of nursing incorporates both community health and pediatric nursing, drawing practice from both disciplines. In my three years as a school nurse, I have provided age-appropriate, culturally, and ethically sensitive care to students, staff, and faculty. Working in this specialized practice, I help to advance the overall well-being, academic success, and health literacy for students and their families. Advocacy, community relationship building, education, and training are at the heart of my nursing practice.
